Welcome to the Washington HIV/AIDS Community Advocacy Network. A committed gathering of advocates, consumers, professionals, and informed officials from across Washington State created this important network on November, 2011 to discuss next steps and actions related to pending cuts from the state budget. The discussion included the identification of multiple simultaneous activities including an economic crisis, the implementation of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy, health care reform, and increasing numbers of people to serve.
As the economic climate of our state and the nation continue to falter, involvement from communities across the state will achieve the best results for health care reform. People living with HIV infection, those at risk, and all persons affected by chronic communicable diseases require enhanced essential benefits to: 1) maximize their lives, 2) benefit society, and 3) secure treatment, services, and housing to reduce transmission.
Our group is prepared to advocate, work, and inform decision makers throughout the State.
